What We Do
Through education, community service, and youth development, the Alpha Sigma Sigma Alumnae Chapter is committed to making a lasting difference in Gary, Indiana and the surrounding Northwest Indiana community.
Each program reflects our core values of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and leadership.
The Rhoer Club is Sigma Gamma Rho's official youth auxiliary for young women ages 12–17. Our Gary chapter sponsors a vibrant Rhoer Club that provides mentorship, leadership training, community service opportunities, and college preparation support.
The Rhosebud Club is Sigma Gamma Rho's youth auxiliary for younger girls. Our chapter's Rhosebud program nurtures confidence, character, and community awareness in young girls through age-appropriate activities, mentorship, and service projects.
Each year, the Alpha Sigma Sigma Alumnae Chapter awards scholarships to high school seniors and college students in the Gary, Indiana area. Our scholarships recognize academic achievement, community involvement, and leadership potential.
Our Women's Wellness Initiatives bring free health screenings, educational resources, and wellness support to women and families in Gary. We partner with local healthcare providers to address health disparities and promote whole-person wellness in our community.
Operational Big Bookbag is our chapter initiative to ensure students in the Gary community have the school supplies they need to succeed. We collect and distribute backpacks and supplies to local youth at the start of each school year.
Our Youth Symposium brings together young people in the Gary community for a day of inspiration, education, and empowerment. The event features workshops, speakers, and activities designed to motivate and equip the next generation of leaders.
Whether you want to volunteer, partner with us, or enroll a young woman in the Rhoer Club — we'd love to hear from you.
